TV: Hateley thrilled with goal
Dead ball specialist Tom Hateley has spoken of his delight after his goal kick-started this afternoon’s 6 – 0 rout of Morton.
The Englishman curled in a goal direct from a corner, one of football’s more unusual sights, and after being famed for chipping in with assists all season, he was thrilled to get on the score sheet for the fourth time this season.
He said: “I’m delighted asĀ I set them up more than I score.
“I scored direct from a corner when I was a lot younger but never since I’ve been a professional.
“It’s the area the gaffer wants me to put the ball in – if no-one touches it, it might go in. If it does go in, I’m more than happy to take the goal. They don’t come around too often!
“As long as the team is winning and if I’ve chipped in with the goal, I’m happy to do so.”
