Injury nightmare for ‘Well midfielder

Unlucky Marc Fitzpatrick is coming to terms with yet another injury that will rule him out for the majority of the season.

Marc FitzpatrickHaving already missed most of the current campaign following an operation, the 23-year-old began to work his way back into the side and made his return to the starting eleven against Aberdeen a few weeks ago, turning in an excellent performance.

However, his recovery was cut-short by a cruel twist of fate when a hard, but fair, Simon Mensing tackle caused the midfielder to tear his hamstring just three minutes after coming on a substitute in the Lanarkshire Derby eleven days ago.

The result is another five to six weeks on the sidelines with at least a fortnight of rehab meaning Fitzpatrick’s season is all but over.

“I have been told I’ll miss between five and six weeks because of the injury,” said Fitzpatrick.

“I am gutted because it took me the best part of six months to get fit and less than four weeks back with the team, I am out again.

“But these things happen in football and I am just going to have to get on with it. Being injured and having to face the gym every other day is definitely demoralising but you’ve got to remain focused. Shaun Hutchinson is in a similar situation so we’re both helping each other get through it.”
