Biography

Stephen Robinson made a number of signings in his first close season as Motherwell manager with young defender Cédric Kipré arguably the recruit who has captured the imagination of the ‘Well fans most.

The Paris born defender arrived in the UK in 2015 when he was signed by Leicester City from Paris Saint Germain for a reported £70,000.

A member of the Foxes development sides he was released in the summer of 2017 without having made an appearance in Leicester’s first team.

The 20 year old was one of several trialists who joined Motherwell for pre-season training and having impressed there and in the club’s pre-season friendlies Stephen Robinson rewarded the young Frenchman with a deal at Fir Park.

Signed on a twelve month contract the defender settled in incredibly well in his opening weeks at the club so much so in fact that just a matter of weeks into that deal, the club moved swiftly to extend his stay at Fir Park for at least a further year.

Powerful, gifted with the ball at his feet and with an eye for a pass, Kipré is also strong in the air leaving ‘Well fans excited at how much the defender can develop as he gains more experience.

Cédric made his ‘Well bow in the televised clash with Queen’s Park at Hampden on 15th July ’17 with the defender playing his part in a 5-1 debut win.
