Motherwell FC are offering you the unique opportunity to have lunch with the first-team squad.

It’s an ultimate fan experience perfect for any ‘Well supporter.

You will enjoy a buffet lunch including soup, salad bar, cold meats and hot dishes including pasta, rice, fish and meat.

You’ll have an opportunity to meet and chat with the first-team squad and management team as well as collecting signatures and photographs.

After lunch with the lads, you will be treated to a mini-stadium tour where you will be shown around the areas of the O’Donnell Stand the club use on a day-to-day basis.*

One recent attender Linsey Paton told us: “”I would definitely recommend the Players Lunch to all ‘Well Fans. A great chance to meet and chat with your favourite players as well as the great team of people working behind the scenes. Motherwell captain Keith Lasley expects a real test when League Cup winners visit Fir Park tomorrow.

The Fir Parkers have struggled against the Paisley side in recent years but go into the match high in confidence.

Likewise, Saints boss Danny Lennon will be delighted with how his side have fared in recent weeks and it’s all set to be another tight encounter between two evenly matched sides.

“It’s going to be a big test,” the 33-year told MFC TV.

“After they won the Cup, people maybe thought they’d come off the gas a little after such a high but since then they’ve had a good home draw against St Mirren and a good draw against Kilmarnock.

“It’s a difficult match and this season we’ve not managed to get the better of them.

“They beat us at St Mirren Park and we’ll be looking to bounce back from that. We’re on a good run and will be looking to take that confidence into the game.”

‘Well boss Stuart McCall admits he has a little bit of revenge in his mind ahead of tomorrow’s meeting with St Mirren.

Danny Lennon’s men will go into the match high in confidence after their Scottish Communities League Cup success and subsequent draws with Celtic and Killie in the last week.

Their last visit to Fir Park ended in a 1-1 draw when young Thomas Reilly netted with virtually the last kick of the ball to earn his side what was a deserved draw.

The corresponding fixture at St Mirren Park days before Christmas went in favour of the home side despite the Steelmen dominating for large spells.

The Buddies are the only side ‘Well haven’t got the better of this campaign so there’s everything to play for ahead of Saturday’s match, no less the fight for a European spot.

“It’s another tough game as St Mirren are a good side and have good players,” McCall said.

“They’ve won the League Cup and if you look through their side on paper, they are strong. You only have to look at the lads who are not in the side;  Imrie, Parkin, McLean and Guy for example.

“We’ve not beaten St Mirren at home since I’ve been here but have had two good games against them this season and it was only a late goal that stopped us winning last time at Fir Park. At St Mirren park they were excellent in the first half but we were excellent in the second and deserved something from the game.

“There is a little bit of revenge in the air and I just want us to keep playing as well as we have been recently.”

The Community Trust’s Easter Soccer Camp has kicked off and this afternoon those attending had a surprise visit from Jonatan Johansson’s Under 20s.

The youngsters have been enjoying a wide range of football activities from dribbling, passing and shooting through to penalty competitions, and small-sided games.

The kids got to rub shoulders with the young professionals and Angolan winger Jose Quitongo,w ho coaches with the Community Trust

The Under 20s, who have been undergoing their coaching qualifications, delivered sessions and got involved in the games and as you can see from the photo above a great time was had by all.

Week 2 of the Easter Soccer Camp takes place next week; Monday 8^th April – Friday 12^th April and limited spaces are still available. Prices are £45 per week, £10 per day or £5 per half day.

Young ‘Well striker Lee Erwin will form part of Ricky Sbragia’s Scotland Under 19s squad to face Serbia next week.

The match, which will take place this Tuesday, 9th April in Stara Pazova, will be used as another preparation match for the UEFA European Under 19 Championship elite round, which takes place in May.

The Scots will take on Belgium, group hosts, England and Georgia, with the group winner progressing to this summer’s finals in Lithuania in July.

Scotland reached the elite round after taking maximum points from their qualifying group, defeating Armenia, Romania and Switzerland last year.

Another feature-packed edition of the 68-page Steelmen Matchday Magazine returns against St Mirren on Saturday.

Referee for Saturday’s Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash with St Mirren here at Fir Park is Brian Colvin.

Brian will be handling his second Motherwell match of the campaign. The other was his only ever ‘Well match – a 3-1 win over St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park back in October.

Jamie Murphy had put Motherwell in a commanding lead with two goals before the break. Nicky Law added a third with a deft dink over the goalkeeper before Saints pulled one back late on.

Brian is no stranger to our opponents having handled Saints’ 0-0 draw at Pittodrie near the start of the season and, more recently, the home draw with Kilmarnock at St Mirren Park.

It’s been season for the 34-year old. He has handled ten fixtures in the Scottish Premier League at the Caledonian Stadium, Pittodrie, McDiarmid Park, Dens Park and St Mirren Park.

Other notable games include Dundee’s Scottish Communities League Club tie against Queen’s Park at Hampden and the SFL 3 match at Ibrox as Rangers saw off East Stirlingshire 3-1.

In the 26 matches he has handled this term, he has booked 72 players (2.76 per match) and sent off seven.

He will be assisted by Tom Murphy and David McGeachie with Paul Robertson on 4th Official duty. Bryan Robertson is the referee observer with Terry Christie as the SPL delegate.

Jonatan Johansson was left to count the cost of poor decision making by his players & the referee as ‘Well lost 4-0 to Aberdeen.

The Steelmen were outplayed in large spells by their talented opponents, but weren’t helped by what looked like a questionable penalty call early in the match which gave the visitors the lead.

Motherwell never really recovered and three additional goals for the Dons and a red card for Adam Cummins made for a really poor afternoon for the Fir Parkers.

“It was a strange game,” a visibly frustrated Johansson told MFC TV after the match.

“There were a lot of incidents you rarely see on a football pitch, and by that I mean some decision made by both the referee and the players; it’s hard to put the finger on why that happened.

“We didn’t start well and were off the pace, then they got a penalty, which I think everyone agrees was not a penalty. They could then pick us off on the counter-attack and that’s what happened.

“There was a spell where we came back into it and looked the better side and McHugh has hit the post but that’s it. From two nil down and then a man down, it was very hard to recover and the two second-half goals just added insult to injury.”
