Steelman and his sidekick Raven Steel have been brought to life in cartoon form to back North Lanarkshire Council’s programme around Safer Internet Day.

The club mascots teach a short lesson on the concept of consent online for our younger fans, answering typical questions and giving a simple guide to understanding.

Based around a theme of “Together for a better internet”, North Lanarkshire Child Protection Committee are committed to helping keep children safe online and they are encouraging parents to make use of the resources available online to engage with children’s digital lives.

The day offers the opportunity to highlight positive uses of technology and to explore the role we all play in helping to create a better and safer online community.

With Motherwell seeking a fourth straight league win, Livingston were the visitors to Fir Park.

Motherwell head west to take on St Mirren on Wednesday night in the Ladbrokes Premiership.

Motherwell head to Paisley looking to record their fifth straight league win.

Having defeated Hamilton Academical, Hibernian, Dundee and Livingston, Stephen Robinson’s side are looking to string together their best run of results since a five-game winning run in 2016.

Conversely, St Mirren have lost their last five games in the league.

Although only three league positions separate the two sides going into Wednesday’s match, Motherwell currently have an 18-point gap over their opponents.

Sitting in bottom spot, St Mirren have won three, drawn three and lost 18. Motherwell meanwhile have won nine, drawn three and lost twelve.

Motherwell last conceded in the league 17 minutes into the win over Hamilton Academical, and have since racked up 343 minutes without letting one in.

Mark Gillespie and his defence have stood tall against Hibernian, Dundee and Livingston, returning to the sort of form that saw the team rack up a record 20 clean sheets last campaign.

Plenty change

Ten new faces have arrived in Paisley in the winter transfer window, with 13 heading out.

At the back, manager Oran Kearney has added goalkeepers Václav Hladký and Jordan Holmes, from Slovan Liberec and Bournemouth respectively. They’ve been joined by defenders Mateo Mužek, Mihai Popescu and Laurențiu Corbu.

Greg Tansey has arrived in midfield on loan from Aberdeen, along with fellow loanees Brad Lyons, Anders Dreyer and Kyle McAllister.

Up top, Haitian striker Duckens Nazon has also arrived on loan from Belgians Sint-Truiden.

Form guide

St Mirren are without a league win in five, with their last Ladbrokes Premiership victory coming at Fir Park in December.

St Johnstone, Kilmarnock, Celtic, Hibernian and Rangers have since defeated them, with an aggregate score of 14-2.

Kearney’s men however did progress in the William Hill Scottish Cup, coming from two goals down to Alloa Athletic to progress 3-2.

In the scrap

St Mirren may be bottom of the table as things stand, but they are anything but cut adrift.

With Dundee sitting two points ahead of them, and Hamilton Academical three, there is plenty scope for a string of results to pull them out of immediate danger.

George Newell netted just 20 minutes into his Albion Rovers debut on Saturday.

In a game where teammate Peter Morrison was also named amongst the starters for the match away to Edinburgh City, the striker was on hand to head his team into a 22nd minute lead.

Allan Smith quickly drew the home side level from six yards with a header of his own. Jack Breen fired City into the lead before half time and Blair Henderson made the points safe in the second half.

Aaron Taylor-Sinclair will have to wait for his debut for Crewe Alexandra as the Railwaymen’s match away to Carlisle was postponed due to a frozen pitch.

A similar fate also befell Neil McLaughlin as Stirling Albion’s home match against Clyde fell victim to the freezing temperatures.

Broque Watson’s East Fife were in Dublin for the quarter-final of the IRN-BRU Cup, but the game was postponed just seven minutes before kick-off.

The former Celtic man wouldn’t have been able to take any part, cup tied from Motherwell Colts’ involvement in the competition.

Barry Maguire made his fifth appearance for Queen of the South as Gary Naysmith’s men crashed to a 3-0 defeat at the Falkirk Stadium. Queens had dispatched Premiership side Dundee in the Scottish Cup during the week, but were well beaten the 10-men Bairns, who had goalscorer Davis Kellor-Dunn sent off 18 minutes from time.

Shea Gordon remains sidelined and unavailable for Partick Thistle, albeit Gary Caldwell’s side won their third match in a row, edging out Inverness 1-2 at the Caledonian Stadium. The Northern Irishman is getting close to fitness though and is hopeful to be back in training in a few weeks time.

Two years ago, Les Hutchison made a generous offer to match every £1 raised through the Well Society by reducing the loan balance due to him by the club up to a maximum of £500,000.

This was originally for a one year period, before being extended for a further year. Motherwell fans responded in tremendous fashion, raising close to £400,000 over the last two years through pledges, donations, share sales and other fundraising events and initiatives.

Mr Hutchison has now generously offered to keep the “Double Your Money” offer open until the end of May 2019, giving us a real chance of hitting that original target and raising £500,000.

“The gesture from Les Hutchison to further extend his offer of Double Your Money to the end of the season is a fantastic one and appreciated by all at the Well Society,” Well Society co-chairman Douglas Dickie said.

“It is a fantastic boost to both the Well Society and in turn our football club. This allows us the chance to take advantage of his original offer of match funding our fundraising to a maximum of £500,000.

“I thank all members who have helped us get so close to this target over a two year period. We are currently standing at just under £400,000 and ask for their continued support to achieve our target and beyond. “

HOW IS IT DIFFERENT TO THE OLD LOTTERY?

New lottery numbers: Every player will be allocated a six-digit lottery number for every entry they wish to play. If you match your number with the winning number drawn on a Saturday in the correct sequence, you can win up to £25,000.

Higher prize fund: Through Unity, we can now offer a higher weekly jackpot of £25,000, with smaller prizes of £1,000, £25 and five entries into the next draw on offer.

More payment options: You can join the lottery by direct debit, credit card or cheque.

Proceeds: Every £1 ticket gains Motherwell FC at least 50p towards the club’s youth development and academy programme.

No change to the ticket price: It’s still £1 to play.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?

Every £1 is split three ways. At least 50p of every £1 comes straight to Motherwell FC, which is put towards the club’s youth Development and academy programme. The other 50p covers the cost of the administration of the lottery, and goes towards the fantastic prize fund.

HOW DO I WIN?

Every player of the new Well Lottery will be allocated a six-digit lottery number for every entry they wish to play. This idea is to match your number with the winning number that is drawn on a Saturday in the correct sequence. Every entry in the Unity lottery has an equal one in 63 chance of winning a prize.

WHAT IS UNITY?

Unity is a platform on which charities run their own fundraising lottery. It is run by an external lottery manager, Sterling Lotteries, who administer hundreds of charity lotteries for clients across the country.

Jake Hastie scored his first league goals, and Curtis Main also got on the scoresheet, as Motherwell made it four league wins from four by beating Livingston.
