Moult wins Ladbrokes Player of the Month

Tuesday, October 10, 2017

Louis Moult has bagged the Ladbrokes Player of the Month award for September following a scintillating month for the striker.

And the Englishman is the first Steelman to pick up the honour since Michael Higdon back in April 2014 following his five goal haul last month.

Moult started September with an 88th minute goal against Kilmarnock in a 2-0 win for the ‘Well, before following that up with a brace at Easter Road as Stephen Robinson’s men drew 2-2.

Another brace came just five days later in the dramatic quarter-final clash with Aberdeen in the Betfred Cup, including an improvised over-head kick and a thumping finish past Joe Lewis to erupt the Fir Park crowd.

It’s been a good month for me personally, scoring a few goals, and it’s been a good month for the club too.

And the ‘Well number nine, speaking upon picking up his award, reiterated his desire to focus on the important games ahead.

He said: “It’s been a good month for me personally, scoring a few goals, and it’s been a good month for the club too.

“I’ve been fairly consistent with my performances and I’ve tried to not let anything affect me and the club have helped me in that by playing me more than anything.”

He added: “At the moment I’m not thinking about [the future] and I’ve said it many a time just how much I appreciate the support from the club.”
