Another up-and-coming talent, Matty Connelly, has been gaining valuable experience on loan in his time at Motherwell. 

Extending his stay until summer 2025, Connelly has played for Falkirk, Gretna 2008, Stranraer and East Kilbride as the hot prospect pushes towards first-team football at Fir Park.

Remaining patient throughout his journey at the club, the arrival of Jens Berthel Askou saw Connelly move to second choice behind Calum Ward for the 2025/26 campaign. And after joining the club at the age of 13, the goalkeeper was given his first chance for the first-team in the group stage of the Premier Sports Cup against Peterhead.

His second appearance saw him keep a clean sheet against Stenhousemuir before doing the same against Ross County in the Scottish Cup. Connelly was then thrust into the last game of the season against Hibernian, a decider for fourth place in the table. Connelly took the opportunity with both hands and kept his third clean sheet of the season in the 1-0 win that saw Motherwell secure UEFA Conference League football.
