    Max Rogers appointed assistant manager

    Max Rogers appointed assistant manager

Max Rogers has been appointed as the assistant manager of the club.

Rogers will start his work immediately as Jens Berthel Askou’s number two.

“I am very happy to join Motherwell as assistant manager,” Max Rogers said.

“In my discussions with the manager, I was really impressed with his vision for the team along with the winning mentality that he wants to create at the club and in the squad.

“I believe my skills and experience align well with and complement the current coaching staff.

“I am eager to get to work with the players to prepare them for the season ahead – and to help create a team that the fans enjoy watching and are proud to support.”

The 34-year-old’s coaching career started here in Scotland with St Mirren, where he served as a youth coach for over two years.

He then moved to America, working with Saint Louis in the United Soccer League in his first assistant manager role.

Rogers returned to the UK in 2021 to work with Shrewsbury as the Under 18s coach before he returned to the USA with Indy Eleven and Miami FC.

In 2023, he once again returned to England with Wigan, working under Shaun Maloney. Working as a first-team coach for 18 months, he moved up to the position of assistant manager last summer after a successful spell since joining.

“I’m very excited about Max joining us,” Jens Berthel Askou added.

“It has been some intense days with many interviews with different candidates. Several very strong candidates have been involved in the process, and the interest in the assistant manager job has been high.

“In Max, I’m convinced we’ve found the perfect man to help drive and accelerate the development of Motherwell Football Club.

“Max fits the profile we have been looking for perfectly. He is extremely passionate, detailed and hard-working, and has an innovative approach to his work. At a young age, he has gained a lot of valuable experience through different coaching roles and environments with very talented and modern-thinking people. And on top of that, he has a solid, positive and likeable personality that will inspire and motivate his surroundings.

“We have gathered positive and strong references on Max, and the interviews and talks have confirmed our initial feeling.”

    Ahmet Koc leaves Motherwell

    Ahmet Koc leaves Motherwell

Assistant Manager Ahmet Koc has departed the club.

Koc arrived with Michael Wimmer in February and remained in post following Wimmer’s departure at the end of the season.

However, Koc has decided to step aside to allow new manager Jens Berthel Askou the opportunity to choose his own assistant manager.

“It is with a heavy heart that I have chosen to pursue a different path in football away from Fir Park,” Ahmet Koc said.

“I have loved every minute at Motherwell FC and have taken the club, the staff and the fans to my heart. I feel it’s important Jens has the opportunity to build his own team now for the season ahead whilst I now also have the opportunity to pursue a different career path in football.

“Although short, the time at Motherwell FC has been special, and I have truly loved every minute of being here. As difficult a decision as this has been for me, I will always support the club from afar, and who knows, we may meet again in the future.

“My best wishes to all of the fans, the directors, Jens and the football department for the season ahead, and thank you for looking after us during our time in Scotland.

    “Mon the Well!”

We thank Ahmet for all his hard work and wish him well for the future.
