What else is happening?

The Cooper Suite opens for home and away fans at 3:30pm. Food and drink is available, with the suite remaining open for one hour after the match also.

The Beer Garden will open at 3:30pm, and will be available for home fans only.

The Motherwell FC DSA are collecting money at the match via bucket collection.

Motherwell’s Fortunes

Motherwell made it back-to-back Premier Sports Cup semi-final appearances on Saturday, with a hard-fought but impressive win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Regan Charles-Cook netted his first Motherwell goal since joining late in the summer window and will be looking to follow up again this weekend.

The last time these two sides faced off at Fir Park was when goals from Tawanda Maswanhise and Ewan Wilson secured a deserved 2-0 win over the Dons in January.

Opposition Report

Aberdeen have made a slow start to the Premiership campaign as they hunt down their first victory of the league campaign. A Scottish Cup win was the perfect end to the 2024/25 season, and with a number of new reinforcements, Jimmy Thelin will be looking to get their first league win of the season.

That first league win may come prior to their visit to Fir Park, however. The Dons are in action on Tuesday night against Dundee United at Tannadice.

Motherwell B make the trip to Stranraer on Tuesday 23 September as they continue their KDM Evolution Trophy campaign.

Motherwell made the long journey north to Aberdeen in the quarter-final of the Premier Sports Cup. The Steelmen were one match away from making it to back-to-back semi-finals in the competition.

And the excitement was high in the build-up, with over 1100 Motherwell fans travelling to Pittodrie in the hope of another special day.

The first-half was jam-packed with big chances for Jens Berthel Askou’s side, with Regan Charles-Cook, Tawanda Maswanhise, Stephen O’Donnell and Ibrahim Said all having big chances.

But nobody could find the breakthrough, and as the game entered into the final 30 minutes, the pocket of Well fans were jubilant as they watched Charles-Cook’s effort curl off the post and into the net.

Despite Aberdeen throwing everything at getting a goal back, it was to be Motherwell’s day, sparking elation and joy after the full-time whistle.

A transpired to be an evening of mixed emotions for the women of steel, as Patrick Thistle struck in the final stages of the game to rescue a point at K-Park on Sunday. 

Head Coach Paul Brownlie made two changes from the side that were defeated in the Scottish capital last weekend. Amy Bulloch and Sophie Black both earned a place in midfield, with Shannon Leishman and Mason Clark settling for a place on the bench. 

Carla Boyce opened the scoring from the penalty spot, drilling home into the bottom-right corner from 12-yards before Mya Bates’ mis-directed cross drifted into the top-corner of the Motherwell goal.

Keen to earn their first victory over the Jags for over five years, Motherwell started firmly on the front foot, and were rewarded a penalty midway through the first-half after Bailley Collins received a stray arm across her face a yard into the Thistle penalty area. Despite the Thistle defence pleading their case, the referee stuck to her original decision. Boyce stepped up and coolly slotted her strike into the bottom-right corner.

Motherwell continued their dominance on the Thistle goal as the second-half progressed, with Collins finding space frequently across the right-flank, but the pinpoint delivery into the six-yard-box continued to evade the women of steel.

Thistle struggled to produce many clear-cut opportunities on goal, and their eventual equaliser reflected that. Thistle progressed across the left touchline, and Mya Bates lofted a hopeful cross into the Motherwell penalty area, but the midfielders looping delivery sailed over the head of Cameron before finding the side netting.

Motherwell tried to rally response in the final stages, but were forced to settle for a point in a frustrating, but encouraging afternoon in East Kilbride.

Motherwell will take on St Mirren for a place in the final of the Premier Sports Cup. 

The semi-final match will take place on the weekend of the 1/2 November at Hampden Park.

Motherwell booked their place at Hampden with a narrow 0-1 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Regan Charles-Cook was the hero as his long-range shot flew past Mitov to earn a deserved win.

With a spot in the semi-final at stake, a large Motherwell contingent made the long adventure north to Aberdeen, with over 1000 of the claret and amber faithful in Pittodrie.

There was only one change to the side from Motherwell’s last game against Dundee. Stephen O’Donnell replaced Johnny Koutroumbis, who moved onto the bench.

Motherwell were slow out of the traps, with Aberdeen controlling most of the early exchanges. Ibrahim Said tried to get forward, but the Steelmen were quickly countered and were thankful to see Karlsson’s low shot go harmlessly wide of the post.

It took about half an hour for the visitors to spring into life. Fine work from Charles-Cook on the left set up Tawanda Maswanhise, but he watched his powerful shot fizz back off the woodwork, and Ibrahim Said fired the follow-up over the bar.

Another change came minutes later as Elliot Watt’s inswinging corner found the head of Stephen O’Donnell, but Adil Aouchiche was on hand to acrobatically clear off the line.

Aberdeen were handed a great chance to go into the break with a lead, but somehow Mats Knoester rattled the crossbar from only five yards out. Incredibly, Motherwell almost took the lead as Stamatelopoulos burst through and squared it to Charles-Cook, who looked certain to score but for a fine stop from Mitov.

The Steelmen came out for the second half looking much improved and almost made the breakthrough ten minutes into the half as Emmanuel Longelo’s clipped ball into the box nearly found Stamatelopoulos, but the Aussie couldn’t find the vital touch.

The visiting fans didn’t have to wait much longer to celebrate, though.

The ball was worked down the left and was then teed up for Regan Charles-Cook to fire home via the post for his first Motherwell goal.

It was arguably a deserved lead for the visitors who had begun to take hold of the match.

Apostolos Stamatelopoulos had another good chance after Maswanhise got in down the right, but he couldn’t divert his header on target.

The home side came knocking, but the Motherwell defence stood firm, giving little away, and survived a scare from Nicky Devlin’s header from a corner, which again came back off the woodwork.

The Steelmen blew a sigh of relief, and John Beaton blew his whistle to send Motherwell into back-to-back Premier Sports Cup semi-finals.

The Aberdeen ticket office will facilitate a limited number of Motherwell ticket sales tomorrow at the stadium. 

Fans should go to the ticket office, which is located on the corner of Pittodrie Street & Golf Road. There is a window facing out towards Golf Road, and Aberdeen staff will facilitate from there, which will save Motherwell fans from having to come into the office and queue with everyone else.

Late summer signing Regan Charles-Cook is delighted to be back playing his football in Scotland, a place he is comfortable playing and has fond memories.

Charles-Cook is hoping to reach the semi-final at Hampden this weekend, a feat he is yet to manage in his career.

Matchday six of the 2025/26 SWPL campaign awaits the women of steel this weekend, as they return to South Lanarkshire to face Partick Thistle at K-Park. 

Motherwell face one of their closest league rivals in East Kilbride this weekend, after sharing a closely-fought battle for the final top-six place last season.

Motherwell sit one-point shy of the Jags in eighth after earning their first three points in the Lanarkshire derby against Hamilton almost a fortnight ago.

Motherwell will be determined to return to winning ways after conceding three-goals against Hearts in the Scottish capital last weekend.

Scotland under-17 internationals Lily Boyce and Orla Burn will both return to action after representing the national team in a double-header of friendlies against Finland last week. 

Paul Brownlie’s side head into the weekend, with almost a full squad, as Jenna Penman remains unavailable, and Amy Bulloch will potentially miss out.

Partick Thistle 

The Jags have endured a frustrating return to SWPL action this campaign, despite picking up their first victory on the opening weekend, with a narrow 2-1 victory against Hamilton. The Glasgow-side have since lost three, and drawn one, conceding 17-goals in their last four matchday’s. Thistle led league leaders Rangers for over 50-minutes after Rachel Donaldson’s early opener, but the hosts couldn’t sustain the Rangers attacking intent, conceding four in the second-half.
