    No away fans at Ibrox

Motherwell fans will not be able to buy tickets for our weekend trip to face Rangers.

Our opponents have advised us that, due to ongoing restrictions at Ibrox, no away allocation will be sent for Sunday’s match.

Having initially been declined an allocation, subsequent dialogue led to Rangers providing us with a detailed explanation that, due to the displacement of some supporters due to a Covid “red zone”, an away section is not possible.

While regrettable that no Motherwell fans can attend, we accept that Covid restrictions have led to an unavoidable situation.

Instead, we will be showing the game live at Fir Park. Our live beamback to our Cooper Bar is now sold out.

To mark World Suicide Prevention Day, our match with Aberdeen will see Tony Watt wear a special one-off jersey.

The message “speak up, speak out, be heard” will be emblazoned on the chest of his shirt in the cinch Premiership match at Fir Park.

We want to raise money for SAMH, Scotland’s mental health charity, and Chris’s House, the centre for help, response and intervention surrounding suicide.

To do so, we’re raffling off Tony’s match worn shirt from the game. All money raised will be donated.

To enter, please make a donation to our JustGiving page. A winner will be chosen at random.

The class of 2020 has already been announced as John Hunter, Davie Cooper and Andy Paton, with two others still to be announced, before the Covid-19 pandemic forced the postponement of the event.

The remaining two from 2020 will be revealed shortly, as well as the other five inductees for 2021.

They all will join the inaugural intake from 2019, who were George Stevenson, Willie Pettigrew, Ally Maxwell, Phil O’Donnell and James McFadden.

Stephen O’Donnell equals club Scotland cap record

Stephen O’Donnell equals club Scotland cap record

Stephen O’Donnell has equalled a long-standing record for Scotland caps won while at Motherwell.

The international defender was a pivotal figure in the national team’s 1-0 away win in Austria on Tuesday, as the nation took the upper hand in the race for a FIFA World Cup qualifying play-off spot.

O’Donnell won his 12th cap while on the books at Fir Park, equalling the amount amassed by the legendary George Stevenson.

Stevenson won his first cap against Wales in October 1927, with the last coming against Northern Ireland in 1934.

O’Donnell has the opportunity to make the record his own before the end of the year, with four qualifiers remaining for Scotland across October and November.

Club posts record season ticket numbers

Club posts record season ticket numbers

We have broken our record number of season ticket holders.

Despite all the challenges of the pandemic and the ongoing difficulties, our supporter base has continued to grow and thrive as we return fans to Fir Park.

Our season ticket total sits currently at 5,226, far exceeding our record number and with a further increase anticipated before our next home match with Aberdeen.

A total of 4,784 supporters purchased season tickets for the 2021/22 campaign, surpassing the previous record sales total of 4,488.

Of that number, 3,732 fans carried their tickets over from 2020/21, with 1,052 others purchasing new.

Our Well In scheme has further boosted that number, with our staff continuing to process applications with a view to reaching a total of 1,000 distributed free season tickets before our next home match with Aberdeen.

    Encouraging attendance

We are keen to encourage all supporters to use their season tickets when possible.

If there is anything we can do to help, or you have any feedback, please email us anytime on tickets@motherwellfc.co.uk.

    Socially-distanced section

We want all supporters to feel safe to return to Fir Park as soon as possible.

Following supporter feedback, we are opening a limited capacity section for our next home match with Aberdeen where social distancing measures will be in place.

Fans in these sections in the north and south ends of the Phil O’Donnell Stand will be asked to keep a 1.5m distance from others not in their household, and to wear masks at all times.

If you are a season ticket holder who would like to relocate to these sections for the next game, please let us know by completing this form.

Applications are on a first-come, first-served basis. We will be in touch prior to the match to confirm your seat change, and to send you a temporary ticket to gain entry.

If there are seats available once all season ticket holders have applied, we will offer tickets for public sale in the section.

Please note that we are unable to guarantee social distancing on stairwells, in toilets and at kiosks. Stewards will endeavour to maintain safe distancing in turnstile queues.

Join our mental health awareness e-clinic

Paycare Wellbeing has joined forces with partners in Scotland to organise a Motherwell mental health awareness e-clinic.

The free virtual event, which is aimed at individuals and businesses who want to learn more about wellbeing, will run from 10am until 11am on Wednesday 8 September.

Booking your free place couldn’t be easier – simply click here.

It’s being run in conjunction with Motherwell FC and will feature guests Robert Nesbitt from the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) and Aaron Connolly from Time to Tackle.

SAMH has been running for almost 100 years, launching in 1923, and is Scotland’s national mental health charity which works with adults and young people to provide support within social care, primary care, schools and other settings.

Time to Tackle was set up by Aaron and Siobhán Connolly after Aaron struggled to find support for his mental health.

They run an award-winning Football Therapy programme and aim to challenge stigma, promote open and honest conversations, and create peer support networks to combat loneliness.

“We are delighted to be strengthening our partnership with Motherwell FC even further by jointly hosting a free webinar focused around mental health,” Paycare’s wellbeing manager Kerry B Mitchell explained.

“I’ll be sharing some information about various conditions and risk factors, tips on approaching difficult conversations, signposting pathways, and some of the statistics and myths around mental health.

“I’m sure with the Scottish Association for Mental Health and Time to Tackle both joining us on the e-clinic that it’ll be a really interesting and informative hour for those attending.

“It’s so important for us all to be having these conversations, especially with more of us than ever likely to develop mental ill health during our lifetimes – and I’d like to thank Motherwell FC for their commitment to highlighting this issue.”
