We can confirm that our upcoming home fixtures on Saturday 20 December 2025 vs Dundee, and Saturday 24 January 2026 vs Kilmarnock in the William Hill Premiership have been granted a licence by North Lanarkshire Council for the controlled sale of alcohol at these matches.

As part of this initiative, alcohol will be available for purchase within the Tommy McLean Stand Concourse/Kiosk for away supporters and the Davie Cooper Concourse/Kiosk for home supporters at Fir Park from:

• 1pm to 2:30pm on 20 December
• 1pm to 2:30pm on 24 January

These sales will be managed in full accordance with licensing regulations, with appropriate security and stewarding measures in place. The aim of this initiative is to explore how a managed approach to alcohol sales can contribute to a positive and safe matchday experience.

We’d like to remind supporters that alcohol may only be consumed within clearly designated areas and not in sight of the pitch, and all activity will be confined to clearly designated and monitored areas. Regular matchday safety protocols remain unchanged.

We hope this will add to the enjoyment of the matchday experience for supporters, and we appreciate your cooperation and support as we participate in this limited trial. We will provide further updates ahead of each fixture.

Motherwell’s Fortunes

Motherwell have been in strong league form coming into this match. The Steelmen picked up seven points from a possible nine before the international break.

Sitting on 15 points after 11 matches, Jens Berthel Askou’s side have only tasted defeat twice in the league campaign.

Kilmarnock away has proven to be a tricky fixture for Motherwell. The Well’s last victory at Rugby Park came in February 2021, thanks to an Allan Campbell strike. Since then, it’s been four defeats and two draws in the six matches played.

Opposition Report

Kilmarnock have endured a difficult run of results in the league recently. It’s been five losses in a row for Killie since their last win at the start of October. However, during that run they have played Celtic, Rangers and Hearts.

Stuart Kettlewell’s side have a number of players absent through injury at present and are dealing with a difficult situation regarding goalkeepers at the club. With first-choice keeper Max Stryjek unavailable, 22-year-old Eddie Beach made his Killie debut last month, having had very little first-team experience in his career so far.

Tobi Oluwayemi was recruited on a seven-day emergency loan two weeks ago and played in Kilmarnock’s defeat to Falkirk, but with the loan expired, Beach becomes the only fit first-team goalkeeper at the club.

David Watson continues to prosper for Kilmarnock, scoring three goals this season and having only missed 11 minutes of league action all season.

Coming into October, Motherwell had four fixtures ahead of them. Taking on Champions Celtic, a home match against Falkirk, travelling to Livingston and then rounding off with a midweek clash against Dundee United at Fir Park. 

All eyes were on the Steelmen as they travelled to Glasgow, with many keen to see if they would alter their possession-based football approach at Parkhead.

A short break would be next before facing newly promoted and highly impressive Falkirk at Fir Park as Motherwell looked to build momentum going into the semi-final of the Premier Sports Cup.

It was then the short journey to West Lothian for Jens Berthel Askou’s side, as they faced off against another promoted side in Livingston. October ended with a crucial Wednesday night match with Dundee United at Fir Park.

Elliot Watt has won his second successive G4 Claims player of the month award. 

Picking up the award for his impressive displays in October, Watt opened his account for the club with a fine strike against Dundee United.

Playing every minute of every match during October, Watt continues to shine in the heart of our team.

Matty Connelly

Matty Connelly returned to Motherwell to cover for the injury of Aston Oxborough. During his stay with Airdrie, Connelly made 11 appearances, keeping three clean sheets.

He signed off with a 1-0 win over Arbroath in his final match before returning to Fir Park. Airdrie parted company with their manager Danny Lennon after a turbulent spell in charge.

Scott Williamson

Scott Williamson has continued to feature for Cowdenbeath. He is now on 11 appearances for the Lowland League side, featuring across the backline.

He has started in four of Cowdenbeath’s last five matches. The match he didn’t feature in was due to suspension after the defender was sent off against Caledonian Braves.

Cowdenbeath remain mid-table and are only eight points off of fifth place.

Ewan Wilson

Ewan Wilson has played a further two matches for Raith Rovers since our last update, taking him to a total of five appearances for the Rovers.

He has three starts to his name this season and was a half-time substitute in his last outing against Morton.

In a tightly congested Championship league table, Rovers are currently sixth. Only six points separate third from seventh in the standings. Barry Robson has left the club, with Paul Hanlon taking on a player-manager role.

Olly Whyte

Olly Whyte has started three of Stenhousemuir’s four matches since our last update and played the final ten minutes in the fourth match.

Winning one and drawing three, Stenhousemuir remain in the promotion playoff spots. Only eight points separate first to seventh in the table.

Whyte is now on 16 appearances this season for Stenhousemuir, starting 13 of those matches. Stenhousemuir were due to play Dumbarton in their final league-phase KDM Evolution Trophy match on Tuesday night, however the match was postponed due to the weather.

Nathan Lawson

Nathan Lawson made a big impact in recent weeks, scoring two goals in his last three matches for Cowdenbeath.

He has played in another three matches since our last report, featuring twice off the bench and earning his third start of the season in his last outing.

Lawson scored his first Cowdenbeath goal against Gala Fairydean at the start of November in a 2-2 draw. He then started against Civil Service, playing 84 minutes and scoring one goal in the 4-1 win.

Elijah Just

Elijah Just returned to the New Zealand squad this month, having missed out on the October action through injury.

New Zealand have two friendlies lined up during this international window, both against South American opposition as they look to step up preparations for the 2026 World Cup.

First up, it’s Colombia on Sunday 16 November in Florida. They then face Ecuador on Tuesday 19 November in New Jersey.

Regan Charles-Cook

Regan Charles-Cook and Grenada have one match during this international window.

They play US Virgin Islands in a friendly match on Saturday 15 November. These sides haven’t met since 2021, when Grenada won 1-0 on the day.

Tawanda Maswanhise

Zimbabwe are playing their final two matches ahead of AFCON in December.

Michael Nees left his role as manager and has been replaced by Mario Marinică ahead of the tournament. Marinică has named Maswanhise in his first squad as the boss, for friendly matches against Qatar and Algeria.

Zimbabwe take on Algeria on Thursday 13 November in Jeddah, before travelling to Doha to face Qatar on Monday 17 November.

Looking to show a strong mentality following a heavy defeat in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final last weekend, Motherwell travelled north to take on Aberdeen for the third time this season. 

Having got the better of the Dons in the first two meetings, Jens Berthel Askou was looking for a similar outcome this time round.

Dominating possession, Callum Slattery had the best chance of the first-half, with the midfielder blasting an effort towards goal, but Mitov was able to tip it over.

The second-half continued in the same fashion, but Motherwell failed to make possession count and could only watch as Jesper Karlsson raced forward and smashed into the net to open the scoring.

Thankfully, Slattery and Elijah Just were on the ball to respond quickly from a quirky corner kick routine just minutes later. The draw ensured Motherwell stretched their unbeaten run in the league to three games, making it seven points from a possible nine.

Elijah Just strike cancelled out Jesper Karlsson’s opener as the Steelmen go three unbeaten in the league.

Motherwell left Pittodrie with a point, making it three league games unbeaten.

Jesper Karlsson opened the scoring with a strike from distance, but Elijah Just’s equaliser from a quickly taken corner earned the Steelmen a 1-1 draw.

Two changes were made to the side that was beaten by St Mirren at Hampden last weekend. Callum Slattery and Stephen Welsh returned to the starting 11, with Liam Gordon and Ibrahim Said making way.

This was the third meeting between the two sides already this season, with the Steelmen getting the better of the Dons on the first two occasions.

Motherwell started in a really positive fashion. They had lots of the ball and were in good attacking areas, with plenty of intricate passing, but they were just lacking that cutting edge.

The visitors were first to threaten. A nice ball over the top from Lukas Fadinger found Callum Slattery, who brought it down on his chest and forced a great save from Mitov.

They were handed a second chance to take the lead from a corner on the left. The ball fell to Tawanda Maswanhise, but his shot flashed inches wide of the near post.

Aberdeen had a great chance to break the deadlock moments before half-time, but Marko Lazetic couldn’t find the target as he got on the end of Karlsson’s free-kick.

The sides went into half-time even, although Aberdeen looked fortunate to not be a man down, as Emmanuel Gyamfi persistently fouled despite being on a booking.

For all the possession Motherwell had, on the hour mark, it was Aberdeen who took the lead. Karlsson countered with plenty of space and managed to beat Ward with a strike from a distance.

The Steelmen weren’t behind for long, though. Quick thinking from Callum Slattery led to his corner finding Elijah. Just completely unmarked, and he poked level, dispatching his second in two league games.

Neither side could find a definitive cutting edge, and the game fizzled out to a 1-1 draw, leaving Well sixth in the league and unbeaten in three Premiership matches.
