Neil McLaughlin was named in the starting team and grabbed his first goal of the campaign as Stirling Albion ran out 3-0 winners at home against Berwick Rangers.

The youngster opened the scoring after 16 minutes, tucking home Danny Jardine’s pass at the back post.

Former ‘Well youth Dylan Mackin was also on target for the Binos, with the win creating some distance between them at the bottom two clubs.

Peter Morrison made his sixth appearance for Albion Rovers in their 2-1 defeat away to league leaders Peterhead.

The young ‘Well stopper had another busy afternoon at a cold, windy Balmoor and made a number of stops in difficult conditions. But he couldn’t step his side ending up on the losing side, despite Barry Eley’s second-half hit.

In the Championship, Jake Hastie was a 72nd minute sub as Alloa lost at home to Dunfermline. The winger was introduced with the Wasps trying to get back into the match following Jackson Longridge’s 69th minute goal, but the Pars held on for the three points.

Ross MacLean was an unused sub as Morton thrashed Partick Thistle 5-1, where Shea Gordon continues to miss out with an injury picked up against Celtic earlier in the campaign.

Stephen Craigan admitted his side were not at their best after defeating Morton 1-0 in the Reserve League.

Broque Watson’s second half goal secured yet another three points for the youngsters, who have now won four games on the bounce.

Despite the result, the reserves boss wants more from his side. He said: “It was a bit stuttered and we didn’t really get any flow in to the game, but we always felt in control.”

Motherwell’s reserve side picked up a deserved league win on Monday, taking all three points in a 1-0 victory at home to Greenock Morton.

Broque Watson’s goal early in the second half was decisive in a match the young Steelmen controlled for the most part.

Stephen Craigan made six changes to the side which defeated Dunfermline Athletic in their last outing.

Mark Gillespie, Christian Mbulu, George Newell, Conor Sammon, Danny Johnson and Akeal Rehman all dropped out. PJ Morrison, Jason Krones, Jamie Semple, Dean Cornelius, James Scott and Jake Hastie came into the side.

For all their possession, chances in the first half were at a premium. Watson troubled the ‘Ton keeper briefly with a low shot he had to turn around the post, while Semple had a shout for a penalty turned down.

The breakthrough would come just after the interval as the pair combined.

Semple’s angled run from the middle took him to the left flank. Hitting the byline, his low cross back across goal was perfect for Watson to tap in from close range.

A succession of set plays gave the youngsters a number of half chances, while substitute Alfredo Agyeman saw an effort agonizingly fall wide of the post from a deflection, after showing great pace and power to burst through.

The Steelmen have now won three and drawn one of their opening five Reserve League matches, with their sole defeat coming at Rangers.

Four Motherwell youngsters were in action at the weekend on loan in the Ladbrokes Championship and League Two.

Jake Hastie got 25 minutes as Alloa Athletic held Inverness Caledonian Thistle to a goalless draw at home.

The result keeps the Wasps within touching distance at the bottom end of the table, sitting in the play-off position but just a point behind Partick Thistle and three behind Dunfermline Athletic.

Also in the Championship, Ross MacLean played an hour as Morton lost 5-0 at league leaders Ross County.

Motherwell’s reserves side resume league action on Monday, as they host Greenock Morton.

Stephen Craigan’s side welcome the Ton to Forthbank Stadium in Stirling in the SPFL Reserve League. Kick off is at 2pm.

Entry to the game is free. The two sides face each other for the first time in November, with the Steelmen making the trip to Cappielow later in the month on SPFL Reserve League Cup duty.

Both sides are currently level on points in the table after four games, having both won two and drawn one. Morton sit ahead in fifth place with a superior goal difference.

Talented youngster Alfredo Agyeman has joined East Kilbride on loan.

The forward has signed for the Lowland League side until January, and will go straight into the side to face Civil Service Strollers on Saturday.

Agyeman will join ex-Well winger Chris Humphrey with the Kilby, as they push for promotion to the SPFL.

Currently joint top of their division with Spartans, they narrowly missed out on reaching League Two in the 2016/17 season, when they lost in the play-off to Cowdenbeath.

Agyeman, who was born in Ghana and holds Italian citizenship, is yet to make a top team appearance for the Steelmen but is a regular feature with Stephen Craigan’s Reserves side.

The 18-year-old will continue to be eligible to feature for the reserves, as well as playing for East Kilbride.

Christian Mbulu has won the public vote to be named the best player in the IRN-BRU Cup third round.

The Englishman helped seal victory over Sligo Rovers with a stunning strike in the 2-0 win against the Irish side.

Motherwell became the first colts team to reach the quarter-finals in the process, where they will face Ross County on 17 November.

Motherwell Colts have already made history in reaching the quarter-finals of the IRN-BRU Cup and they are looking to go one better when Ross County come to town on Saturday, 17 November.

As was the case when Fir Park hosted the match with Sligo Rovers, both clubs have agreed to low ticket pricing to attract as many people along as possible to cheer the youngsters on in their search for a last-four place.

• Concessions (aged 60 and over, 16-18 year olds, full time students): £4
• Juveniles (children aged 15 and under): £2

Motherwell Colts’ IRN-BRU Cup quarter-final with Ross County will be played at Fir Park on Saturday, 17 November.

After overcoming Irish side Sligo Rovers in the last round, Stephen Craigan’s side take on Championship opposition, as they bid to become the first ever colts side to make the final four.

Ticket prices will be announced shortly. Kick off is at 3pm.
