Steven Hammell kicked off his reign as permanent manager with a 3-2 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie.
Blair Spittal, Callum Slattery and Kevin van Veen all netted in an eventful win up North.
PRE-MATCH
Hammell brought Callum Slattery back into the side following suspension. Dean Cornelius also got his first league start as the pair replaced Maguire and Morris.
The goals
- ‘Well took the lead. midway through the first half thanks to Blair Spittal. Connor Shields was played in down the right and he fired in a fine ball across goal. Spittal was on hand to apply the finish past Roos from close.
- As the break approached Aberdeen got level though Miovski who powered his header past Kelly
- After going behind two minutes into the second half though Hayes, it might have been easy for heads to go down. Thankfully five minutes after the Dons scored, Slattery put ‘Well back level. Goss’ corner went all the way through the box and found Callum Slattery who had an easy finish at the back post.
- Incredibly, three minutes later, the comeback was complete. Blair Spittal went in search of his second and saw his show rattle off the crossbar. Thankfully van Veen was lurking and fired the ball into the empty net.
Talking points
- Aberdeen passed up a great chance to take the lead after 11 minutes. Ramadani burst clear through on goal and looked certain to score but scooped his effort over the bar.
- Motherwell had a host of great chances to add to their tally but couldn’t make them count.
- Four wins in last five games at Pittodrie for the Steelmen.
