Travel

Airbles Road remains closed from outside The Kings Church to junction with Glencairn Street. Diversions are in place but we encourage you to plan your journey ahead and leave early to ensure you arrive at Fir Park on time.

If you are coming off the M74, or coming from Hamilton, it is advised you continue straight on the Hamilton Road.

For supporters seated in the Tommy McLean Stand, enter turnstiles S5 and S6 and follow steward directions. Kiosks and toilets will be open.

There is a tifo prepared by our supporters for the players coming out the tunnel. At 6:15pm, supporters will be walking from Motherwell town centre up to Fir Park.

We want to remind all supporters that unacceptable conduct will not be tolerated. We ask all supporters to enjoy the match responsibly.

In UEFA matches, UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body can issue and distribute a range of punishments against the football club, including fines, partial stadium bans, away ticket bans, etc.

The use of pyrotechnics, pitch incursions, throwing objects, use of laser pointers and any discriminatory behaviour can result in any individual receiving a club ban, football banning order as well as harsher punishments. We encourage all supporters to get behind the team on what is a huge European night for the football club in a safe and responsible manner.

Food & Drink

Mrs Baillie’s Fanzone is open once again with live entertainment on pre-match. There will be music performed by So Sally (on Facebook as sosallyindieband). It all kicks off at 5:30pm. 

The Cooper Bar will be open from 5:30pm for home. It will also be open for one hour post-match for those looking to avoid the traffic. Food and drink will be available.

All kiosks will be open in the home stands. Card and cash are accepted.

The current forecast is to be dry evening in North Lanarkshire with a moderate breeze, with temperatures expected to be around 18 degrees come kick off. There is no forecast for rain.

Elijah Just has joined Swansea City for a club-record fee. 

The New Zealand international had a stunning 12 months in Scotland after he joined the club from Danish 1st Division side Horsens in July last year.

Despite this being a new club-record fee for the club, the overall fee will remain undisclosed under the terms of the agreement with Swansea. The fee sets a new record sale for the club, with a number of add-ons included in the agreement that could see this rise in the future.

His 43 appearances in claret and amber will be remembered by Motherwell supporters for years to come. In his 12 months in Scotland, Just was named in the PFA Team of the Season and nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award, the SFWA Player of the Year award, the Motherwell FC Player of the Year and the Motherwell FC Players’ Player of the Year. This was all achieved before scoring three goals for New Zealand at the 2026 World Cup as he became the first Motherwell player to score a brace at a World Cup.

His seven goals and eight assists, combined with his tireless work and creativity, played a crucial part in Motherwell achieving European football for the first time since 2022.

“I want to wish Elijah all the very best for the future,” Chief Executive Brian Caldwell said.

“His 12 months at the club will be remembered fondly by everyone, and he is a humble and genuine person who deserves every success.

“As a club, this move marks another hugely successful moment for our overall strategy. Setting a new record sale for the second time in the space of 11 months is down to the hard work of all the football staff involved at the club.

“Elijah is our fourth player sale during this summer window, and we have been working tirelessly to strengthen the squad going into a hugely competitive and important part of our season. Bringing five players in so far, we’ll continue to work on improving the squad ahead of the window closing.”

The club also wishes Elijah the very best for the future and thanks him for his immense contribution at the club.

Forward Eva Thomson has penned a permanent deal after departing Aberdeen this summer. 

A product of the Westdyke Ladies youth system, Thomson climbed the ranks before signing for Aberdeen in July 2019 – becoming one of the first five players to be signed under Semi-professional terms in May 2022. 

In her first full campaign with the Dons, Thomson netted 10-times across 18-appearances before netting another six the following year, as Thomson supported Aberdeen to double promotions. 

Despite her youthful age of 22, Thomson has earned a wealth of professional experience – earning 190-appearances for Aberdeen, scoring 38 in all competitions. 

Her standout performances in the Granite City merited a two-year contract extension, which expired this summer – enabling the forward to commit to ML1. 

“Ilm delighted to join the club,” Thomson said.

“After speaking with Iain, he really sold me on the club, and where they want to go in the future.

“It was something, I simply wanted to be a part of. I can’t wait to get started.”

Thomson has also featured on the international stage, earning caps for Scotland at the under-16 age group. 

Thomson continued to impress in the previous campaign, being awarded the April SPWPL Goal of the Month, whilst also being nominated for the SPWPL Player of the Month. 

“We’re really pleased to add Eva to the club,” Robinson added.

“We were really impressed with her performances last season, and especially throughout the recent friendly matches we’ve played.

“Adding Eva to he squad is another step forward for the club.”

Oscar Priestman is raring to go ahead of Motherwell’s UEFA Conference League second qualifying round match against Havnar Bóltfelag. Priestman is looking to play more minutes this season having had limited game time due to the impressive displays from other players in his position last season. 

Priestman says changes have been limited during pre-season in terms of style, which has made the transition simpler.

Manager Alfred Johansson is looking forward to experiencing a packed Fir Park in his first competitive match, with the new boss expecting a highly-competitive match against Faroese side Havnar Bóltfelag.

Johansson states a couple of players will be assessed ahead of the match to determine their fitness levels, and he also discusses Motherwell’s transfer activity.

It’s claret and amber, home and away for the Steelmen this season.

Defender Dylan Williams has joined the club on a two-year deal from Burton Albion, with the club holding the option of a further year.

The 22-year-old makes the move for an undisclosed fee.

“I want to welcome Dylan to the club,” Alfred Johansson said.

“A humble young man, Dylan has been in first-team environments since he broke into the Derby County team at a young age. He is an incredibly mature man, and we’ve had some excellent discussions about what we want Dylan to do in our system.

“He is an attack-minded and exciting defender, but most importantly, he works incredibly hard for his teammates. It’s great to get Dylan into the club as we look ahead to the competitive football starting very soon.”

Williams came through the Academy system at Wolverhampton Wanderers before moving to Derby County in 2019, where his development and progress continued. He made his first professional appearance in the FA Cup for Derby County, playing in a 2-0 defeat to Chorley at the start of 2021, aged just 17.

He went on to play eight Championship matches later that year under the stewardship of Wayne Rooney, catching the eye of some of the biggest clubs in the country. Chelsea came in for Williams, and once the deal was completed, he moved to Stamford Bridge at the start of 2022.

Williams made the bench for the Chelsea first-team in March of 2022 in an FA Cup tie against Luton Town. His development continued with manager Thomas Tuchel including Williams regularly in first-team training sessions.

A regular for Chelsea’s Under 23 and Under 21 sides, Williams was loaned out to Burton Albion in June 2024 to work under former Chelsea Youth coach Mark Robinson.

Williams was a regular for his new club in the early parts of the season and assisted in three EFL Trophy matches as well as scoring one goal. Gary Bowyer became the new Burton Albion manager in October 2024, with Williams seeing his gametime reduced. He continued to work hard and worked his way back into the starting 11 for the final stage of the season. He made a huge impact by scoring a stoppage-time winner against Cambridge United, which kept Burton Albion in the division.

A permanent Burton Albion player in his second season, Williams featured another 31 times for the club, taking his appearance count above 60 before moving to Scotland to start his next chapter.

Williams is eligible for selection for our UEFA Conference League match against Havnar Bóltfelag.

“I’ve spoken to a number of people about Motherwell,” Dylan Williams added.

“Everyone has had positive things to say about the club. The initial discussions with the manager were encouraging, and he’s been so clear on what he wants me to do. Key messaging and a clear desire to bring me to the club meant it was an easy decision to come here.

“I’m looking forward to the season ahead.”

The draw for the UEFA Conference League Third Qualifying Round was made this afternoon, with the winners of the tie between Motherwell and Havnar Bóltfelag discovering their potential opponents in the next round.

Either Motherwell or Havnar Bóltfelag will take on either HJK Helsinki (FIN) or Coleraine FC (NIR) in the Third Qualifying Round. The games in the third qualifying round are due to take place on Thursday 6 August and Thursday 13 August.
