Tickets for our UEFA Europa Conference League first leg match against either Bala Town or Sligo Rovers are still on sale.

Please note that anyone who buys their season ticket on or after 1 July 2022 can still take advantage of the reduced Euro ticket discount, but must wait approximately 24 hours for the price reduction to be applied to the online ticketing system.

• Concessions are listed as 65 and over and full time students with a valid matriculation card.

• Juniors are 11 and under.

Second Leg

Due to capacities at both club’s current nominated stadiums, we are expecting a limited number of tickets for the second leg match, due to take place on Thursday 28 July 2022.

We are inviting any 2022/23 season ticket holder to notify us of their wish to attend the match, be it in Wales or Ireland, by filling in the form at the link below.

If the number of applicants exceeds our allocation of tickets, we will conduct a random ballot of all those who have applied to ensure swift distribution.

Expressions of interest should be submitted to the club, via the link below, by no later than 5pm on Wednesday 13 July.

Motherwell have signed Josh Morris from Salford City.

The 30-year-old attacker, who operates on either side of a front three or deeper in midfield, has penned a two-year deal with the club.

“It’s great to have Josh here with us, he’s a player I know very well and he was an integral part of two successful teams I managed,” Graham Alexander said.

“He has great energy and a work ethic to match, a lovely left foot and real quality in the final third.

“I believe he’ll complement the type of players we already have here, and I’m sure he will enjoy his time at Motherwell.”

Morris came through the ranks at Blackburn Rovers, where he broke into the first team in 2010. He went on to make 22 appearances for the Rovers, including six games in the Premier League.

In his time at Blackburn, he went on loan to Yeovil Town, Carlisle United and Fleetwood Town, where he first worked with Graham Alexander.

Morris departed Blackburn Rovers in 2015 to join Bradford City. He then moved onto Scunthorpe United where he reunited once again with the current Well gaffer. He scored 20 goals in his first season with The Iron and followed that up with 12 the following season in a prolific spell at Glanford Park.

Morris returned for another spell with Fleetwood Town before joining his most recent club Salford City in 2021.

His signing is subject to registration formalities. He will wear the number 23 shirt this season.

Away supporters will be housed in the Colin Weir stand, with tickets priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions and under 16s.

Partick Thistle have advised there will be no pay-at-the-gate entry and tickets can only be purchased online.

Motherwell continued their preparations for the new SWPL1 season with a comfortable 1-0 victory of St Johnstone on Sunday. 

Kaela McDonald-Nguah scored the only goal in the game when she converted from the penalty spot after 53 minutes.

Motherwell controlled the full game and has a cluster of chances over the course of the 90 minutes.

The first big opportunity came from Kodie Hay after seven minutes. The winger beat two St Johnstone defenders and shot over the bar.

Hay was unlucky not to break the deadlock just two minutes later. She fired a low driven shot towards goal which came off in the inside of the post before rolling across the goal line but failed to cross it.

Gill Inglis would go close next when she drove up the wing before pulling a shot narrowly wide on 13 minutes.

McDonald-Nguah found herself with the ball in box on 21 minutes and she lashed a half volley which came crashing off the crossbar with the keeper well beaten.

Arguably Motherwell’s best chance of the first half came on 27 minutes. Inglis once again caused the St Johnstone defence problems on the right hand side, she played a ball across to Hay who seen her shot well saved by the Saints keeper from 10 yards out.

With the deadlock still to be broken, Motherwell continued to pile on the pressure in the second half.

Summer signing Brogan Anderson done well to keep a hold of the ball and she was fouled in the penalty area on 53 minutes, with the referee pointing straight to the spot.

2021/22 top goalscorer McDonald-Nguah stepped up and made no mistake as she fired the ball hard and low to the keepers right to give Motherwell the lead.

Substitute Amy Anderson had a go from 25 yards but her shot was too high and cruised over the bar.

Motherwell would see out the game and come away with 1-0 victory in what was an excellent run out for the squad.

Graham Alexander reflects on the trip to Austria for pre-season.

He says his side have coped well with how far the coaching staff have pushed them.

The Motherwell manager reckons this week will help his side cope with mental fatigue that will hit them during the course of the season.

Alexander was also pleased to see his side come away with a victory in a bounce match at the facility on Friday to round off the week.

Motherwell will take on FA Women’s Championship side Sunderland in a pre-season friendly match on Sunday 24 July at the Academy of Light.

Motherwell have been given a home tie with East Kilbride in the first round of the SPFL Trust Trophy. 

First round matches are due to take place on 9/10 August.

Should Motherwell progress to the second round, we will face Annan Athletic.

Second round ties are scheduled to take place on 23/24 August.

Kick-off time and venue will be announced shortly.

Motherwell got their 2022/23 season underway on Sunday when they defeated Dundee United 1-0 in a friendly match at the GA Arena in Dundee.

A first-half goal from London Pollard was enough for the women of steel to get their pre-season preparations off to the perfect start.

Motherwell would see plenty of the ball in the early stages of the game and they would get their reward on the half hour mark.

A nicely worked ball in the midfield eventually found it’s way out to the right hand side where Lauren Doran-Barr controlled, and took to the byline. She crossed the ball across goal where Pollard was waiting to tap into the net.

Chances were limited for the rest of the first half.

In the second period, summer signing Emily Mutch was called into action. She was forced to make an excellent stop on the hour mark to prevent Dundee United from finding an equaliser.

Motherwell would go on to look for a second and double their advantage before the end of the match.

In the latter stages of the match, a Katie Rice corner created havoc in the United penalty area however nobody was their to capitalise and the game would finish 1-0 to the ‘Well.

Motherwell now welcome St Johnstone in their next friendly match on July 10.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of former captain Andy Goram.

Affectionally known as ‘The Goalie’, Goram joined Motherwell in January 1999 after a distinguished and trophy-laden seven years at Rangers, where he collected ten winners medals and won both the PFA and Football Writers Player of the Year awards.

Andy would regain his top form again at Fir Park, prompting boss Billy Davies to make him captain. He would play 69 times in claret and amber, before leaving the club in March 2001 to answer an SOS call from Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

Goram retired at the end of the 2003-04 campaign, bringing to an end a career that totalled over 700 games for 11 different clubs, 43 caps for Scotland and entry to the Scottish Football Hall of Fame. After hanging up his gloves, he had numerous coaching roles at several different clubs before being diagnosed with terminal cancer in May of this year.

He passes aged 58 away having made an indelible mark on the Scottish game and will be widely regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers this country has ever seen.

“Everyone at Motherwell, and the broad Scottish football family, will mourn the loss of a true great of our game,” Chairman Jim McMahon said.

“He was a larger-than-life character both on and off the field, but his ability as a goalkeeper was second to none. His contribution at Motherwell will obviously be overshadowed by his time at other clubs, but he was a big presence Fir Park for the two years he was here.

“The thoughts and condolences of everyone at Motherwell FC are with Andy’s family and close friends at this very sad time.”
