Motherwell Football Club Community Trust are at present raising funds to enable us to install a lift in the Davie Cooper Stand.

This will allow fans with a range of disabilities to access some areas of the stadium more easily.

For years Motherwell Football Club have had the vision to look beyond disability and view EVERYONE as having ABILITY.

In order for us to proceed with this project, a can collection will take place outside the stadium prior to the Celtic match on Sunday 6th November 2011.

All proceeds from this collection will be used to facilitate the installation of the lift and also permit us to create a new Ability Zone.An area where our disabled fans and their carers can relax in comfort and enjoy Premier League Football.

The Ability Zone will feature:

• Viewing Platforms
• Matchday Commentary
• Relaxing Atmosphere
• Player Visits

We would ask that fans please give generously so that we can make this vision become reality, and help us break through the barriers of disability to allow these fans to experience the surroundings of this fantastic resource.

Motherwell FC would like to invite you to Fir Park to join the pre-match fun before the big game against Celtic this Sunday.

The fans’ bar in the Cooper Suite is open and licensed from 11am and early before every single match with kids also welcome.

Not only will you be able to enjoy the company of like-minded ‘Well fans, but you will be able to watch live football in the big screens.

And, not only that, patrons of the Cooper Bar will be able to vote for the “Davie Cooper Man of the Match”.

Polling will take place in the Cooper Suite after the match and the ‘fans choice’ will visit for the presentation, autographs and photographs.

Motherwell midfielder Keith Lasley couldn’t hide his delight at being named the Clydesdale Bank Premier League Player of the Month for October.

Four weeks after the birth of his son, Alfie, Lasley was rewarded for his outstanding performances throughout the month.

“It’s been an eventful but an enjoyable month,” he smiled.

“Alfie was born on the 3rd and things have been hectic since then but the football has gone really well and we’ve had some good results and to top it off with this award is amazing.”

Motherwell midfielder Keith Lasley has been named Clydesdale Bank Premier League Player of the Month for October. 

Lasley has been instrumental in his side’s good performances throughout the month as Motherwell racked up three consecutive away victories against Dundee United, Hibernian and Inverness C.T. and a home draw against Kilmarnock. 

Lasley opened the scoring in their 3-1 win over Dundee United and he also netted in Motherwell’s 3-2 win away to Inverness C.T. last weekend.  Lasley has been a driving force in Motherwell’s midfield and his performances have helped his side move three points clear of Celtic to sit in second position in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League. 

It was Lasley’s spirited and goalscoring performances that led the panel to vote him as their Clydesdale Bank Premier League Player of the Month.

A panel of Scottish football experts chose the award winners from a shortlist which included the top three fans’ nominations from Clydesdale Bank’s football website, www.cbfootball.co.uk.

Motherwell Reserves cruised to another win this afternoon, beating Kilmarnock 4-1 at Dalziel Park.

‘Well opened the scoring when Ross Forbes flashed a free-kick at former ‘Well trialist Kyle Letheren who was unable to keep it from crossing the line.

Kenny Shiels’ men equalised when David Silva found space on the left flank before cutting in and blasting a bouncing shot past Tom Bradley.

However, shortly before the half-time interval, Jamaican International Omar Daley burst away down the left channel before turning back on to his right foot and screaming a low shot into the far corner.

The Steelmen netted a third when Jonathan Page met a Forbes free-kick from the right and Steven Lawless added the exclamation point with a fourth, tucking home after neat build-up play involving Gary Smith and Steve Howarth.

Motherwell FC have fended off a host of clubs to secure the signature of Braidhurst High School pupil Dylan Falconer.

Falconer, who will play in the clubs’ Under 13s squad, was previously with local side New Stevenson Boys Club.

Motherwell’s Head of Youth Development Gordon Young was thrilled with his latest recruit.

He said, “I am delighted that Dylan has agreed to join Motherwell given some of the big name clubs who were chasing him.

“We are always keen to secure the best of the Lanarkshire talent and given the lad lives and is schooled locally; he is exactly the type of player we are looking for at Motherwell.

“The challenge is there for him now and he’ll work alongside our excellent coaches towards the ultimate aim of appearing in our first-team squad.”

Kevin McKenna, Falconer’s manager at New Stevenson Boys Club, was delighted that his star had joined the Steelmen and praised the clubs’ approach.

“This is a great opportunity for Dylan and I am pleased he has joined a club with such an excellent reputation for producing young players and giving them a platform to excel in their career,” said McKenna.

“Obviously you never like to lose good players but Motherwell were very sensitive and respectful in their approach and I would like to wish him the best. The lad has a good chance if he works hard and we will all be hoping that he goes on to have a great future at Fir Park.”

Full back Stevie Hammell is hopeful he will be fit in time for Sunday’s massive Clydesdale Bank clash with Celtic at Fir Park.

The full-back suffered a terrible gash on his leg after a clash with Caley full-back Josh Meekings after twenty-five minutes of Saturday’s 3-2 win.

But the former Scotland cap is winning his fitness battle and is hoping to be involved when Celtic visit for the ESPN live match.

Referee for Sunday’s Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash with Celtic at Fir Park will be the experienced Charlie Richmond.

Somewhat surprisingly (and unfortunately as Charlie is regarded in football circles as one of the best and most popular around), it will the 43-year old whistler’s first Motherwell ‘SPL’ match in over twenty months. His last was at the home of local rivals Hamilton Accies, when ‘Well were held to a largely uninspiring 0-0 draw by Billy Reid’s men.

In between times, he has handed the Scottish Cup clash with Stranraer at Stair Park last February; Motherwell running out 2-0 winners thanks to goals from Steve Jones and Gavin Gunning and the 4-0 demolishing of Clyde in the Scottish Communities League Cup this season, goals coming from Michael Higdon, Nicky Law, Tom Hateley and Steven Lawless.

He oversaw another 0-0 draw some seventeen days previous to that Accies game at the start of 2010 when Motherwell and Falkirk drew a blank. The only real point of note from an otherwise uneventful game was the red card shown to Giles Coke for serious foul play.

Charlie has been a busy man this season, taking charge of eleven matches thus far. Included in that was SPL encounters at McDiarmid Park, when St Johnstone and Dundee Utd shared a 3-3 draw in the Tayside derby, and at Tynecastle when Hearts ran out comfortable 2-0 winners over St Mirren.

His overall record whilst taking charge of ‘Well games is a bit of a mixed bag. In the eleven seasons he has been officiating at the top level, Charlie has taken charge of 28 Motherwell games. The Steelmen have won eight, drawn six and lost fourteen.

34 goals have been scored whilst 24 have been conceded. 101 players have been cautioned, 52 shown to a player wearing Claret and Amber whilst two have been ordered off; the aforementioned Giles Coke versus Falkirk and Filipe Morais in a game against Hibs back in October 2007.

Charlie will be ably assisted by Graham Chambers and Brian McGarry with Crawford Allan on fourth official duties.
