Adam Montgomery was the first signing of the January window in 2024. With Brodie Spencer recalled to his parent club, Montgomery joined from Celtic on loan. 

Despite starting out as a forward, Montgomery found himself in defence and has thrived since. He signed his first professional contract with Celtic in 2019, and went on to make his first team debut with Celtic in May 2021. Going on to make 20 appearances for his parent club, Montgomery has had loan spells with cinch Premiership sides Aberdeen and St Johnstone.

He played 33 games last season with St Johnstone, scoring one goal and assisting on four occasions in the process. He spent the first half of the 2023/24 season on loan at Fleetwood Town, however due to injuries and three managers in the space of five months, game time was limited and he made the switch to ML1.
