Calum Butcher, by trade, is an old fashioned holding midfielder. However, since his arrival in February 2023, he has found himself at the heart of the defence.

Leader, organiser and enforcer are only some of the words used to describe the 32-year-old.

It was no coincidence results improved with the arrival of Butcher coming into the team, however he was forced off in the second last game of the 2022/23 season against Livingston, when he picked up a serious foot injury on the artificial turf.

Spending five months on the sidelines, and recovering from surgery, Butcher made his highly anticipated comeback against Aberdeen at Fir Park in November 2023.
