Another jam-packed edition of the 68-page Steelmen Matchday Magazine returns against Hibs tonight.

‘Well boss Stuart McCall and Captain Keith Lasley both return with the regular columns. The manager reflects on recent results and the debate around technology and the skipper outlines the hopes for the rest of the season.

The feature interview is with Jamaican International winger Omar Daley. The 31-year old former Bradford flying machine talks about his experiences with his national side and also his desire to play a part between now and the end of the campaign.

Estonian International front man Henrik Ojamaa hopes the Steelmen can finish the season in style.

The 21-year old has played a pivotal part in another strong season for the Steelmen, with ‘Well battling a plethora of clubs for the best of the rest spot.

And the nine-times capped Ojamaa has laid the challenge down to the squad to finish the job they’ve started.

“We’re in a really good position at the moment and that is testament to how well we’ve been doing this season as a club,” he said.

“There is eight games left to go and I think there’s going to be a lot of tight games.

“Our aim now is to finish second and wining home matches.”

‘Well boss Stuart McCall hopes his side can continue their recent good run when Hibs visit Fir Park tomorrow.

The Steelmen have taken seven points from the last nine available, including wins over Celtic and Hearts and a draw with Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Pat Fenlon’s Scottish Cup Semi-Finalists visit for another Friday night showdown, Motherwell’s third of the campaign.

The previous two – Hibs at Fir Park and St Mirren in Paisley – have produced nothing in the way of points, something McCall hopes changes tomorrow.

Speaking to MFC TV, the former Scotland midfielder said: “For us now, the league is not about what we’ve done, it’s about what we can go on to do.

“We have put ourselves in a decent position to finish in the top-six but we won’t rest on our laurels. Once we’ve made sure we in the top half, then we’ll go on and look to finish in a European spot.

“We’ve had mixed fortunes in Friday night games this season. The second half against St Mirren and the first half against Hibs were decent in terms of performance but the results have been poor.

“Last time we played Hibs at Fir Park, everything went against us. We’ve probably played worse than that this season and got a point but we’ve put that to the back of our minds.

“I’m happier to remember the last time we played Hibs this season, coming back from 2-0 down at Easter Road when they were doing well just before Christmas.

“That showed a lot of character and we’ll be hoping for more of the same come tomorrow night.”

Willie Collum will take charge of Friday Clydesdale Bank Premier League meeting with Hibernian at Fir Park.

Regarded as one of Scotland’s best officials, it will be Willie’s fifth Motherwell game of the current campaign.

The first match this season was the 1-0 defeat at Tynecastle in October when Danny Grainger’s long-range effort separated the sides.

He also took charge of both William Hill Scottish Cup clashes with Aberdeen.

In the first meeting at Pittodrie, Niall McGinn headed home a late equaliser to cancel out Jamie Murphy’s opener 10 minutes from time and there was disappointment for the Steelmen in the replay as goals from Rory Fallon and Joe Shaughnessy helped the Dons progress to the next round.

Motherwell were handed a lifeline in injury-time when Michael Higdon netted from the penalty spot, however Craig Brown’s side held firm in the final minutes.

He was the man in the middle for the narrow 3-2 win over St Johnstone in January; Michael Higdon’s hat-trick sealing a terrific three points and most recently took charge of the disappointing 3-0 defeat at Ross County.

Collum be a familiar face to most ‘Well fans having officiated at the top level for many years now, including two Motherwell matches last term.

He took charge of the 0-0 draw with Rangers at Ibrox in early May, Rangers’ last SPL fixture at their own ground. The other match was Motherwell’s Scottish Communities League Cup defeat at home to Hibs; the Easter Road men progressing through on penalties.

Incredibly, Motherwell win over Saints in January with the first league success with Willie in charge.

The only victories recorded whilst the Bellshill based whistler has been the man in the middle was the then CIS Cup win against Raith Rovers at the start of the 2007/08 season, a Scottish Cup success at Inverurie the following season and a 1-0 success over Dundee United in the League Cup – Alan Gow’s goal earning the Fir Park side a place in the last four.

His overall record in charge of the Steelmen reads four wins, eleven defeats and five draws from twenty matches.

In those games, Motherwell have scored 27 and conceded 38. 39 players have gone into the book, 17 wearing Claret and Amber, while three players have been dismissed – Ian Murray of Hibs at Easter Road a few years back, Jerard Aafjes at Falkirk four seasons ago and Paul Dixon at the end of 2009/10.

Martin Cryans and George Drummond will run the lines with Crawford Allan on fourth official duties.

Henrik Ojamaa has been included in the Estonia squad for their World Cup Qualifiers against the Netherlands and Andorra.

The 21-year old has once again been in excellent form for the Steelmen this campaign. Despite netting just twice in 2012/13, he sits top of the SPL’s assists table with twelve to his name.

The former Derby County and Fortuna Sittard front man will be hoping to win his tenth cap since making his debut against Croatia ten months ago.

Tarmo Rüütli’s side will face the Netherlands in the Amsterdam ArenA on 22 March. They will be back on home soil on 26 March to take on Andorra at the A. Le Coq Arena, Tallinn.

With six games left of the campaign, Estonia need to take a minimum of four points from the double-header if they hope to make the play-offs for Brazil 2014.

The Sinisärgid currently sit six points behind both Hungary and Romania in joint second, both of whom trail the Dutch who have a 100% record thus far.

On-loan Birmingham defender Fraser Kerr has been included in the Scotland U21 squad for their match with Luxembourg.

Kerr re-joined ‘Well on loan from City back in August having previously came through the youth ranks at Fir Park. He has played sixteen times in Claret and Amber, including a Europa League start against Levante in the Ciutat de València.

Three-times capped defender Kerr is included in the 21-man squad picked by Billy Stark.

The youths will be looking to build on recent good friendly performances against Greece and Portugal as they attempt to qualify for the 2015 Championships to be held in Czech Republic.

The Scots are in Group 3 alongside Georgia, Netherlands, Slovakia and forthcoming opponents Luxembourg.

The match will take place at St Mirren Park on Monday 25^th March – kick-off 7.30pm.

Extended highlights from Pittodrie as Aberdeen and Motherwell share the spoils in a goalless encounter

‘Well boss Stuart McCall admitted he was satisfied with a point after a battling performance at Pittodrie this afternoon.

The Steelmen weren’t at their fluid best by any means, finding good football difficult in the swirling wind and on a bumpy surface.

Aberdeen certainly had the better of the chances but were denied by the ever-impressive Darren Randolph.

At the other end, Nicky Law could’ve nicked it but was denied by the outrushing Langfield.

There was also a very strong claim for a penalty when substitute Francis-Angol was grounded inside the six-yard box by the sliding Shaugnessy, but referee Clancy waved away the protests.

Although slightly frustrated about the lack of a spot kick, McCall remained philosophical and was happy enough with his side’s stubborn defending.

“In the grand scheme of things, we have to be happy with the point,” he told MFC TV after the match.

“As a spectacle, the first half was poor from both sides. The pitch was better than we expected but still bumpy and didn’t help either side play good football.

“In the second half they came on a little bit and they had to win today; you could see that from their subs. We’ve had a couple of decent chances on the break; Law has had a great opportunity and we possibly could have had a penalty but if you look at the game in general it was a hard-earned point.

“The lads are disappointed because they didn’t play particularly well, but I said to them that you go through a season and look back on games where you haven’t played great but you’ve ground out a point and those are important.”
