Allan Campbell and David Turnbull have been named in the latest Scotland Under 21 squad.

The Motherwell pair have been called up for the UEFA Under 21 Championship qualifier with Lithuania on 8 September.

The match will be played in Vilnius with a 4.30pm kick-off.

They are joined in the squad by ex-Motherwell forward James Scott, now with Hull City.

We will face Glentoran in the first qualifying round of the 2020/21 UEFA Europa League.

Our Northern Irish opponents were confirmed after their 1-0 win on Thursday night at home to Faroese side HB Torshavn.

The match will be played on Thursday, 27 August at Fir Park. Kick-off is at 7.45pm.

Hamilton won on their last competitive visit to Fir Park, with Aaron McGowan and David Moyo scoring in the second half to take a 2-1 comeback victory.

The last encounter between the two sides came in February in a 0-0 draw in Hamilton.

Stephen Robinson reacts to Motherwell’s 0-0 draw with Hibernian.

A much-improved Motherwell performance saw the Steelmen take a point from in-form Hibernian.

But the visitors arguably should have had all three, after a Jordan White goal at the end of the first half was controversially chalked off for offside.

Manager Stephen Robinson made two changes to the starting team which drew 2-2 with Livingston in midweek.

Callum Lang returned from suspension to take Christopher Long’s position as a wide forward, while there was a debut for Stephen O’Donnell in place of Liam Grimshaw.

With Scott Fox ruled out for the majority of the season with a knee injury, young ‘keeper PJ Morrison came in on the bench.

With the boss looking for a reaction from his players, he got it early on in the capital.

The opener should have come with eight minutes gone. Lang cut in from the left and fired a brilliant curling shot towards the bottom right corner.

Ofir Marciano was unsighted but pulled off a miraculous diving save to tip the ball around the post.

The marauding O’Donnell found himself in the box soon after and could have had a debut goal, only for his shot from six yards to be blocked as he pulled the trigger.

Scott Fox is likely to be out for the remainder of the season with cruciate ligament damage to his knee.

The experienced goalkeeper was a summer recruit to provide competition to Trevor Carson, joining from Partick Thistle.

Following scans, he requires an operation and will spend a significant amount of time on the sidelines.

“The injury is horrendous news for Scott and we are all gutted for him,” said manager Stephen Robinson.

“We will help him in every way we can to get him back fit again.

“Unfortunately it is another freak injury, which we can’t legislate for. Scott is now the fifth player we have out and the fourth who has suffered either a contact or freak injury.

“It is frustrating for us all. But we are focused on Scott and making sure we all support him during his recovery.”

“I want to see a reaction. We can’t just turn up and think we will play well. We have to work very, very hard.”
